For a more serious status go see my previous post and my blog. For now, let me get back to the posts from olden/better days: I chose to go to the gym for a little workout. After losing over 20 lbs on the grief diet (dont try it) I need to tone up a bit. So I worked out but not too hard. I didnt want to be so sore I couldnt move tomorrow. Then I came home and pulled into the garage. I lowered the garage door and heard a loud snap. It took a moment to find the source. It was the coil spring above the garage door. Yeah, that big one. Snapped in two. The door was basically now stuck shut. I managed to get enough leverage to lift it up few feet, get under it, and pick it up. I pushed it up to the very top... And it came right back down. The clasp was in the closed position so it wouldnt stay open. To get it open I would have to push the button for the automatic garage door. Yeah, that button on the garage wall by the door. So down came the garage door. But not all the way because I got smart and lowered the tailgate on the truck to help hold it up. I reached in the truck for the remote because it was closer and I could open and close while holding the door. So I lifted the door to its highest position again and hit the button. The clasp went past the door catch but did not close. The only way to get the clasp to close was to pull the red cord. Yeah, the one way over at the top of the door. Yeah, Im at the bottom of the door. Yelling help at this point doesnt seem to be working. So I hand walked the door open until I could reach the red cord. Now the door was stuck open. I pulled the truck out and now had to reverse the process to close the door. Did I mentioned I had just returned from working out? So, the truck is outside and I am inside the garage. No, I did not make the mistake of closing the door from the outside thus locking myself out. First thing tomorrow I will call the garage door people to have it fixed. They will have to open it on their own. Im not helping. Im probably gonna be too sore to move tomorrow.
