For all mothers and fathers out their, My son was diagnosed with ODD Oppositional Defiant Disorder quite a few years ago, It has been a consent battle to learn how to deal with this news with all the questions running through my head, such as ( What did I do wrong ), ( Learning a new way to talk to him ) - Not yelling when I get frustrated, I ended up doing alot more things for him, Instead of letting him learn for himself, (Some days it was just easier) - Learning now (That wasnt a great idea) Having the consent talks with the schools on how to approach his behavior of refusing to do school work, Getting ready for school, simple things like learning to set an alarm, to wake up on time, make his own lunch... This is a consent battle and not easily solved, He does not deal with conflict he hides away (Smart kids there, I think) He is a loving kid and takes along time to allow people to get to know him before he will talk too, I watched my baby grow and even though i find some days a real struggle, Im so glad his my boy.... The biggest struggle watching my beautiful boy go through was, not seeing him play with other children or have friends over, as to them (He was different), We are half way through High School now, Still working with the issues on a daily basis and still trying to get through to the system that we all need help and a better understanding of each childs needs and how to work with them..
