For all of my friends who have looked at my upcoming album track listing - everything is not exactly as it may appear. Here is a little bit more interesting information about the track, “Dinner with Gershwyn.” 3. The Donna Summer cover of, “Dinner with Gershwyn,” is something that I recorded over 15 years ago with singer Danny Saxon. I was introduced to Danny by Radio One DJ, Mike Read. Mike wanted me to produce Danny singing a song from his new musical, “Young Apollo.” Danny was a very striking looking young guy with long blond hair. He had an amazing voice that sounded somewhere between a boy and a girl. He is the son of the famous sixties singer Al Saxon. Danny is also a brilliant jazz pianist. Danny and I became good friends and we recorded this funky version of Dinner with Gershwyn in my home studio in the late 90’s. Sadly we lost Donna in 2012, so I thought it would be a good idea to include this track as a tribute to her. I love it! 2. My version of the Dannii Minogue hit, “You won’t forget about me,” is not actually a cover version - it’s the original version! Jodie Elms was the singer when we wrote the top line to the popular, “Flower power,” backing track. The recording took place at my studio, almost a year before Dannii covered it. Dannii was unaware that I’d had a hand in writing and recording the top line and simply went into a studio with a copy of the, “Flower Power,” instrumental and recorded it herself. I wish I’d had the opportunity to produce her version. On top of that there was a mistake with the label copy and I wasn’t credited on the release. For the version on my album I have used Jodie original vocals and remade the backing track the way I though it should have sounded. 1. My remix of Kylies, Put your hands up has been reworked a bit and now includes a great jazzy electric piano solo from my old pal, Nick Straker! Watch out for more info on the various tracks soon!
