For all of my non-mushroom obsessed friends, here is another reason I am so crazy over fungi. The largest AND one of the oldest organism ever known to exist on this planet is an Armillaria solidipes (Honey Mushroom) colony in Oregon that has been alive since before the Sumerian culture existed. It was still an adolescent at the beginning of the Egyptian Era, and still in its prime during the Roman Era. It has seen the entirety of recorded history come and go, and it still growing larger. Its even possible that some of the earliest Natives in America ate mushrooms from this same patch of mushrooms! How are mushrooms NOT cool as shit!?! ;)
