For all of you who are looking for a job this may be of interest to you. A premier event for Chattahoochee Technical College students, alumni and the community, the College and Career Fair will be held in Building A from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Career Services Coordinator Lucylle Shelton said the fair typically attracts local and regional employers looking for full-time, part-time, seasonal and temporary workers, as well as interns. “Through this event, employers are given the ability to conveniently interact directly with students and alumni ready to learn about career opportunities,” Shelton said. “The event allows employers to more effectively identify candidates with the right mix of qualifications for a multitude of job openings whether those openings are available now or in the near future.” The event already has more employers and colleges signed up than previous years with more expected to join as the date grows near. Companies such as CNN, 6 Degrees Group, Advantage Automotive, Southern Tea and others will be setting up booths to talk to prospective employees. There will be opportunities for all majors. “We are seeing openings for people in most of the trades, including automotive, electrical, welding, industrial systems,” said Career Services Specialist Annette Davis. “Most of the companies attending are recruiting for multiple positions throughout this region.” No matter what the area of study, employers are typically looking for the same things in their potential employees, according to Davis. “Employers are looking for applicants with up-to-date skills who can talk about their skills and are confident about what they have to offer,” she said. “There is a big demand for applicants with hands on experience who are educated in their field. Those are the types of students we have at Chattahoochee Technical College.” All job seekers are encouraged to bring updated resumes and all information necessary to complete job applications on site. According to Shelton, this should be thought of like a first interview and candidates should come dressed in business attire. Career Services representatives are available on each campus at Chattahoochee Technical College for guidance with resume writing, interviewing skills and more.
