For all the artists out there who manage to sweet talk the local restaurants into hanging your artwork on their premises, what kind of arrangement do you make with the restaurant owner(s)? If a painting of yours ends up getting purchased by one of their customers do you and the owner then split the dough 50/50? Or do the both of you divvy up the money by some other ratio? Myself, I would think any financial arrangements made ought to be in line with what galleries charge artists for selling their work. Which is typically a 20% to 25% cut from the sales price. But I dont know, just thinking out loud here. BTW, I havent had this conversation yet with any restaurant owner. Yet. But I anticipate one coming up very shortly.
