For all those God-fearing conservatives (read Republicans) out - TopicsExpress

For all those God-fearing conservatives (read Republicans) out there that insist on using the Bible in their rhetoric, here is a friendly reminder of what your word says about money, the poor, greediness, and neighborly love. 1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. Exodus 22:25 If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury. Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a mans life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. Matthew 25:34-36, 40 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me... Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Moral of the story: Money is evil. Greed is bad. Interest is immoral. All of us (non-Christians included) should spend every ounce of energy helping those who need it rather than painting the poor as lazy, undeserving, welfare queens. Your God has commanded you not to judge people who are less fortunate than you but to instead lift the up.
