For all those that feel teachers have it easy and often say to me, - TopicsExpress

For all those that feel teachers have it easy and often say to me, " well, you have your summers off!", I started my day at work, at 7:15. First meeting was at 7:30, 2nd meeting was at 8:00-8:45, then students arrived. Taught back to back groups until 12:40, 20 minute lunch, then taught groups from 1:00-3:00. Reviewed assessments and put up bulletin board until dismissal duty at 3:40 - 4:20, left school for a quick errand and to take the dogs out and feed them. Back to school by 5:20. Curriculum night until 7:30. Got home about 7:45. All this and a 7:45 meeting tomorrow and a 7:35 meeting Thursday. By the end of the week I will have spent 55+ hours at school and several more hours at home. All of this with no raise in 5 years and less staff at school. Is it worth it? My time with students is the most rewarding part of my workday, so yes, but all this other does not make me a more effective teacher, it makes me tired, stressed and irritable. Not a good thing when working with 7-11 year olds ! Just needed to vent!!
