For all those that may have joined us for prayers & support here is a little bit about Cathy... Cathy is a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Aunt, Cousin & Friend to Many!! She is a 1979 graduate of Oak Hill High School in Wales,Maine, she moved a couple times after school until buying her very own home in Winthrop, Me where she and her daughter Brittney, now 23 lived their life together, sometimes struggling but always achieving and proven by Brittney who is now a smart, beautiful college graduate with strong morals and family values! Cathy married the love of her life, Doug Thomas who has been her Rock through the current situation and for all of the last 10 years. Together they have 5 children and 10 grandchildren, 2 of which they adopted in June of 2009; Kaylie who is now 11 and Camrin, 7. Camrin spent the better part of his first 5 years in and out of surgery to remove constant growths that would frequently block his airway. Cathy was there with him through the long days in the hospital waiting rooms and long sleepless nights of making sure he could breathe easy, she was there without question, because he needed his Nana! Praise God, November 2014 marks Camrins’ 2 year anniversary of No Surgeries!! At 6:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11th 2014, Cathy suffered a ruptured category 5 brain aneurysm. She was found unconscious and taken by ambulance to a local hospital where shortly after she was flown by emergency helicopter to the closest major hospital, Maine Medical Center in Portland, Me. Cathy underwent immediate brain surgery with a 1% chance of a success. Today, November 22nd 2014 marks 12 days that Cathy has beat all odds and continues to fight strong!! She is currently still in the special care unit at Maine Med. The Drs. are Very optimistic that no matter how long the road, Cathy is making strides forward!! Cathy is a kind hearted, loving, giving person who we all Love with All Our Hearts! She has a HUGE support system of Family, Friends, Community and Even Strangers! We as one are asking her family to be humble and allow us to help during such a trying time. Together, we are putting in motion an array of fundraisers to help alleviate one stress in their long road to recovery. Currently we have started planning a local benefit dinner that we believe will in December, we will have a definite date & time Thanksgiving week. Marian is working on a Christmas gift collection for the children, Kaylie (girl, 11) and Camrin (boy, 7). We have set up a Go Fund Me account for monetary donations. Also, a large silent ticket auction that will be held on February 15th, 2015 at Winthrop High School. What can you do to help?? Well, 1st all we need all the Prayers & Good Vibes you can give after that there are many ways; you can contact Marian King if you would like to help with Christmas and you can contact Monica Marin if you would like to donate to the auction, This could consist of Gift Certificates, Merchandise, Crafts, Tickets or services. If you would like to donate cash you can do so through the Go Fund Me page or directly to Doug Also, if you have a social media or media outlet that you would have the ability to share the Go Fund Me page to your community for cash donations the link is: GoFundMe/h6yizo Please, Know that your donation will be received with Great Appreciation and Gratitude from Cathy’s entire support system & mostly from Cathy, herself for helping maintain her family as she needs to rest and be strong. Thank you for not only joining our team to support Cathy & her family but also for taking the time to read the story of my friend!!
