For all who attended today, you will know what a carnival - TopicsExpress

For all who attended today, you will know what a carnival atmosphere there was to be sampled as the SNP road-show hit a sold-out Glasgow Hydro. What an emotional and encouraging experience it was being part of a 12,000 strong crowd of like-minded people, and an awe-inspiring sight to see all the Saltires, Lion Rampants and SNP regalia in what was a colourful and vibrant show of togetherness. Its this solidarity that demonstrates just how positively the Yes movement has emerged, despite suffering defeat in the referendum. As our new First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, said (paraphrasing): we have emerged looking like winners, and for all the world, the Better Together camp look like the losers...and sore ones at that. It is evident from the emotive, inspirational and motivational speech heard at this conference today, from the legend that is Alex Salmond - as well as new deputy Stewart Hosie and the First Minister herself - the fight is not over: its only just begun. And this is solidified by the jump of (circa) 2500 new members to the party in the couple of hours the conference took up. This brings total membership to well over 92,000, and the target is 100,000 by May. In all honesty, it looks as though this will happen by Christmas. Already, we have more than the Lib-dems and UKIP combined....and neither Murrayfield or Hampden, nor indeed Wembley Stadium, would be big enough to hold us all. Its an honour and a privilege to be part of it. For those who took in the sheer size of todays event, the biggest SNP event in history....it was merely a drop in the ocean. Its quite overwhelming to think about it, isnt it? As Alex Salmond stated, we have come off the ropes like wee tornadoes. But we mustnt get carried away with this, regardless of how positive and exciting it all sounds. We still have a job to do, and we know what we need to do: so lets get out there and support the SNP. If you havent joined, join. Get out to meetings, find out what they need us to do - and do it! Talk to everyone and anyone you can: actively recruit, get people behind us, and show that theres strength in numbers. Together, we can return a landslide majority of SNP MPs to Westminster in 2015. Lets hold the WM rogues, scoundrels, scammers and charlatans to account, and take back the powers we need to make our country a successful and vibrant nation again. Lets silence the once silent majority for good. Its in our hands. Lets take it. Saor Alba. James (Glasgow team) * Thanks to Andrew Gardner for the photos. Please share your own photos, to remind people of what they are part of. Its a great feeling!
