For all you scooter riders out there...think about going on an adventure with us. To view the maps...go here... shooteraod.dyndns.org/trips to see videos of our adventures...go here... YOUTUBE/user/HondaGoldwingGL1800 This is a list for each day showing where we will be and what motel we will be at. You do not have to make reseverations if you do not want to, but I strongly recommend it...especially up in the Yellowstone area. I have been told by several people that most likely, everything will be booked up. It is also somewhat expensive up there too. I have made reseverations for me, Rick and Mike only. Havent heard from anyone else, so I assume that you will take care of your own stuff...no problem. Anyone else wanting to go...your other friends or whatever...I have no issues with it. The maps are available to anyone and everyone so that all will know the game plan. Unless it is an emergency...the game plan aint gonna change. If you want to do something different...no problem...we will see you later, the next day or whenever...you should have a copy of all the maps with you so that if you do want to do something different, you will know where the rest of us will be and you can make a plan to hook back up with us. As I said in earlier emails...Rick and I are leaving out between 3:30 am and 4 am Saturday morning, May 10, 2014 to run 1024 miles in under 24 hours for the Iron-Butt/Sore-Butt thing. My calculations say that if we run 85 mph, it can be done in slightly over 12 hours. Rick and I both want a certificate, patch and license plate bracket thingy saying that we went 1000+ miles in 24 hours and that we now officially have Iron-Butts. Mike is not going to make the run and he has said that he plans to leave out on Thursday, May 8 and will either pick us up somewhere along the way Saturday afternoon (possibly around Lordsburg, NM) or just see us at the Lorian Motel in Tombstone. If you want to meet us somewhere else...no problem. There is a possibility the route will change slightly going to Ouray because of road conditions and if, or not they will have Independence pass open. I would like to go over it during the earlier mid-day portion but if it isnt open yet...I guess we wont. This will be a last minute thing. Also I have a route planned to go into Estes Park, but again, this will depend on the snow and whether or not they have the road open. If they do, we can make changes and not get hit with a motel bill that we wont be at. Have good warm clothing for up in the Yelowstone area for early mornings. The only thing to be concerned with in Yellowstone is the bison...give them all the room that they want as almost everyone has told me that they like to walk the roads and dont piss one off. When we are in Yellowstone, the 40 cal hollow points are coming out and the FMJ round nose bullets are going in...in case I have to shoot one of those bison to protect myself. If you dont have Frog-Togs (rain suit)...get some. I will bet that we will need it on this adventure. There are map routes posted, and I will get the changes posted as soon as I can. I have also listed the driving time which is different than what is listed on each map as total time. I have calculated fuel stops on an average of 175 miles or every 2-1/2 hours which includes a 15 minutes rest stop. I rounded up on fuel cost per day to the next $5.00 and priced fuel at $0.13 per mile based on 32 mpg highway use...assuming that gas will cost $4.00 per gallon. More than likely, the fuel bill I have listed will be lower than what I have here...I would rather figure on the high side, then use less. I have been working on this motel thing since 9 this morning and it is 5:00 now, so I am pretty much done with this for today. Last...this will be a 5000+ mile adventure, so before you start out...make sure that your tires will make the entire trip and also change your oil BEFORE you leave out because it will be due to change again as soon as we get back. If you are running the Bridgestone 709 front tire...Marshall at Honda West has told me to run it at 41 psi. Do what you want on the rear as I am a DarkSider and I run 32 psi in it. If you have any questions...call or email. Day 1 & 2, May 10 & 11, 2014 (Saturday & Sunday) Gordon @ 520-457-2272 Lorian Motel 410 E.
