For almost two centuries, Singapore has kept her position as one of the busiest ports in the world. Upholding the worlds confidence in the safety and stability of our port is no easy feat, especially with ever-changing threats to maritime security. To ensure that Singapores waters remain safe and her port competitive, the Singapore Maritime Crisis Centre (SMCC) was set up to facilitate information and resource sharing among the Republic of Singapore Navy and Home Team agencies. Hosting Government Parliamentary Committee and Resource Panel members during a visit to the SMCC today, Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman stressed that its very important that we put systems in place to ensure that every ship that comes through our straits comes for the right purpose.
