For anyone just starting veg growing and/or with limited space, below are our easily made tater towers that can be grown anywhere. We start with a garbage bag or Bunnings boot liner on the ground, then a layer of straw, then a thin layer of well rotted manure, followed by about two inch layer of soil. We place seed potatoes on top then repeat the layers in order and water them in. When we have several inches of green growth above this, we repeat layers ending always at this stage with a new layer of straw. Always water in the new layers. I also squirt in through the sides as the straw allows easy water penetration. The first pic shows 3 towers just about ready to harvest when the greenery dies off. The second shows two newer towers in progress. I am about to plant another couple of towers and only expect to be able to do one or two more plantings before the heat of summer sets in.
