For anyone planning a trip near Hatcher Pass, the Alaska Department of Transportation is closing the Archangel Creek Bridge to vehicle traffic. The bridge is located near mile 2 on Archangel Road, just before the Reed Lakes trailhead and parking area. During a recent bridge inspection, engineers determined that the bridge is no longer structurally sound for vehicles. It remains open to pedestrian access to the old mining road and Reeds Lakes Trailhead. The bridge will be closed indefinitely until it can be repaired or replaced.
