For anyone that hasnt seen this before..the is exactly why Im such a big advocate of from day one laying your baby own before they are asleep and they will not know any different and go to sleep on thei own.. It was hard some nights that I just wanted to hold Grayson and stare athim but I inew if he o used to falling asleep while being rocked or held or fed then he would cry all night when he needed to be put down... From the first week he was able to put himself to sleep and when he woke up I would watch him on the monitor and he would play with his crib music box with the fish and only time he cried out to be picked up immediately is if his diaper leaked...which he would sleep so long it did that a lot... A lot of mothers would say bu they must be starving why would you let him stay in his crib for 15 minutes. My response was that if he were still sleeping for that fifteen minutes would we go wake him up to eat? And the answer was always no I wouod want them to sleep as long as they could... Exactly my point.. If a baby ges used to you rushing in to pick them up the minute they open their eyes then they will scream the next time if you arent there... Letting them play alone for a few minutes when they wake up meant I didnt wake up to blood curdling screams every day or have to sit by the nursery door hoping he old stop crying because he was alone... Trust me on this.. Unless your child is colicky then they arent hurting to soothe themselves and you will be grateful for that later... I learned after my first child never used his nursery I couldnt do that again.. To this day at 9 years old- he still falls asleep without a tv or etc as soon as he gets tired of when I say its bedtime.. 9 pm sharp hes in his room sound asleep... I chose nights that I just held him and held him staring down at my little miracle but I tried to reserve that for during the day and at night I would jostle him if he fell asleep feeding so he went to to his crib while awake.. This video shows you how early they learn this behavior of not being soothed until only one thing happens and thats him laying down with her... It should have never progressed to that...
