For anyone who might not be aware of the current controversy over Family Medical Center being able to operate in partnership with St. Tammany Parish Hospital, there is an open meeting Monday Night at 6:00 p.m. at the Parish Courthouse. Any interested citizens should attend. This matter will be presented before the Parish Council. I do not usually voice my opinion on matters of this sort, but feel obligated to do so in this case. For years, Family Medical staff members have served the people of our parish well. They have been there when we needed them, and now they need us. I also know that they have been very supportive of Riverside, and still are, as I am. In fact, Dr. Chris Foret wrote an order for me to enter Riverside earlier this year. We need a hospital, but we also desperately need the very capable doctors who make up Family Medical, two of whom were born and raised here, and another who has raised his family here. These are Christian people who are an asset to our community. And why should they be told with whom they should be affiliated! Come out Monday Night, so that you can make your own decision. We do not need to lose Family Medical!
