For descendants of KELLY, MORTON, HARRISON, FAIRS, RICKETTS and WELSH. Family information I have come across in my research. Mary Kelly was the wife of Maurice Kelly of Wade hotel fame. Marys first marriage was to Mr John Fairs, a friend of Maurice Kelly seniors. After Johns death Mary Fairs then married Maurice Kelly senior in approx 1846. Mary had several children to both husbands. Marys 2nd husband Maurice Kelly senior died aged 104 on 24th June 1888 and was buried at the Wade (Silverdale). MARY KELLYS OBITUARY NOTICES. Auckland Star, Volume XXVI, Issue 4507, 8 November 1884, Page 5. An old and worthy colonist of the early days passed away on Oct 30 in the person of Mrs Kelly, wife of Mr Maurice Kelly, senr., of the Wade. The deceased lady, who was 76 years of age, arrived in the colony 45 years ago, and during the whole of that time has been associated with Wade settlement. She was married to the late Mr John Fair before she espoused Mr Maurice Kelly, and by both husbands she had a considerable family. Mrs Kelly was widely known and esteemed for many good qualities her hospitality was proverbial, and had gained for her the name of Queen of the Wade. An afliction of the heart was, we believe, the cause of death. Mary and Maurice Kellys five children were Maurice jnr who moved to Owharoa, Upper Thames, David birth bdm 1855/2016, Patrick Thomas birth 1849/2444 who lived at Wade (Silverdale), Honora Maria Kelly birth bdm 1853/1429 (also known as Nora who married William Charles Ricketts of Ngaruawahia, Waikato, their marriage bdm 1878/925. Other child unknown. OBITUARY NOTICE New Zealand Herald, Volume XXI, Issue 7171, 10 November 1884, Page 2. Another very old identity has passed over to the great majority in the person of Mrs Maurice Kelly of the Wade. Mrs. Kelly came to the colony in 1841, arriving in Auckland with her first husband, Mr. John Fair. She subsequently married Mr. Maurice Kelly, and resided for a short time in Kaipara, but since then Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Kelly have been resident at the Wade, where their whole-hearted hospitality and geniality made their residence the most popular in the district. Mrs. Kelly expired on October 31 at the residence of Mrs. Rickettt, Ponsonby, She leaves a large grown-up family of sons and daughters, and her husband, Mr. Maurice Kelly, who is himself now in his 97th year. NOTE: Maurice Claude Kelly was the grandson of Maurice Kelly of the Wade River Silverdale who was NZs first centenarian and Maurice established the Wade River Hotel. Maurice Kelly Junior, (son of the well known Maurice Kelly of the Wade Hotel) married Ellen Harrison, aged sixteen, at the Catholic Church at the Wade, their marriage bdm 1871/420. Ellen gave birth to two children, Maurice Claude and Constance, but in 1876 aged only 20, she died, presumably in childbirth, and was buried near her father in Stanmore Bay, Whangaparoa. Ellens parents were James and Marguerite Clementine HARRISON who had three daughters; the first died soon after birth, then Ellen was born in 1856 and Emily in 1857. Maurice Kelly Jr. got married again (to Elizabeth Sophia nee Morton), their marriage bdm 1879/2711. Elizabeth, known as Sophia and Maurice produced a large family of girls, Daphne Gwendolene Kelly, Myrtle Freda Potts Kelly, Vera Rose Kelly, Aileen Mary Kelly, Audrey Victoria Sophia Kelly, Mildred Elizabeth Kelly, Muriel Reta Potts Kelly. Maurice Claude Kelly married Sarah nee Welsh, their marriage BDM 1908/2133.
