For every food stamp provided by the USDA it costs the taxpayer at least 300% when you consider administration, infrastructure and distribution. That works out to costing the taxpayer 4 dollars for every dollar worth of stamps distributed. It seems like it would be more cost effective to do away that part of the USDA and charge each of us taxpayers $2000 and let us add a dependent-the name and picture of a worthy welfare recip. At least we would have a face connected to our contributions.
