For every man or woman in a wheelchair or living with war induced impairment, how many are there of us who cheer their sacrifice. This is how we rationalize, we call them heroes, we fabricate these identities to which they can aspire, one where they can walk among us in pride and then we celebrate our national naivety. They are VICTIMS of a sick patriotism and are certainly worthy of our empathy and support. I apologize to my fb friends who I have been battering with this message it is just a deeply personal issue and one I believe we should elevate to a daily awareness, kind of like so many friends daily devotions. It hasnt been WWII for almost 70 years now, I think its time we stop pretending.
