For everyone who thinks autism is a recent thing caused by vaccines: Autism is a niche disorder indebted to particular social and historical conditions of possibility specific to the early nineteenth century while Aspergers syndrome is largely a disorder of the late twentieth century, at least to the extent that it has been constructed as a medical rather than personality disorder. This is not to say that the biomedical conditions that engender autism and Aspergers syndrome did not exist prior to the twentieth century.
