For far too long too much has been done, or in most cases not done with little to no regard for the Consumer experience. Personal attacks on consumer leadership, derogatory and demeaning comments about People Living with HIV have been made over and over by those in respected positions of leadership... without recourse. Comments as bold as: They only have a sixth grade education. They only know about living with HIV - and nothing else. They dont have the capacity to lead...a committee. But its never been what the person actually meant, pretty obvious to me. Rules have been bent or blatantly ignored to tilt the scales of justice to favor their one side, Tradition has trumped Truth... Lies have been told and even called out...but still no recourse. Official meeting notes even altered to accommodate an ill spoken misstep and to collude what actually really happened. Well, Enough is Enough. So we are asking that you STAND OUT of tomorrows Ryan White Planning Council Committee Meeting at 99 Jesse Hill Dr. Forth Floor with US, a group of concerned and feed up consumers who are just sick and tired of business as usual. We will Stand Out of the meeting to not only show SOLIDARITY but until we are all invited to sit at the table as equals (Luke 14:1-24) why should we even be in the room. If leadership wont lead us, then we will no longer follow leadership until: 1. We LEAD Us... 2. Our voices are heard and concerns are addressed by the appropriate individual or individuals: Fulton County Chairman - John Eaves, Asst. Director Ryan White Grantees office - Patrick Daly, AID Atlanta Case Management - Nicole Roebuck, Georgia HRSA Liaison and any other persons that need to be held accountable for said concerns.. 3. Fair Housing issues are rectified...Why do we keep sending PLWHA into substandard housing conditions when they have weakened immune systems? (e.g. housing conditions with mold, mildew, roach infestation, etc.) 4. Until Sustained Change and Justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never falling stream. We will quietly and orderly gather in the hallway outside of the RWPC meeting room (4th floor) beginning at 8:30A and would hope that all those infected, affected and impacted by HIV would join us. Bring a Friend or Tell Someone to come and STAND in your Place. If you cant make it, please send an email, text me, message me or repost the attached pic on your FB page to show your support.
