For her recent exhibition at The Vinyl Factorys Brewer Street Car Park, Quentin Jones deviated from her usual modes of practice: The new series of works I created for the show were the large scale pieces at the end of the exhibition. The process was like blowing up the small-scale collage works I am known for, and then seeing how paint, paper, ink and glue work differently at that size, she told us. For instance textures become important which they arent so much in the usual way I work. And the work becomes a physical process, I had to sit on the paintings as I made them to glue down the huge areas of collaged paper and stop them peeling up.
