For immediate release August 6, 2013 Media Contacts: Todd Hogrefe, (612) 716-4089, [email protected] Public–Private Collaboration to Announce the Chi–Cal Rivers Fund Partnership to fund projects for improving stormwater management, habitat, and public access in Chicago/Calumet region WHO/WHAT: Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will join partner organizations and community leaders at the Wrigley Global Innovation Center in Chicago to announce the new Chi–Cal Rivers Fund. The Fund is a new funding opportunity designed to improve the health, vitality and public access of the waterways in the Chicago and Calumet watersheds. Partners have currently committed $2.4 million to the Fund over three years, of which $1.1 million will be awarded in 2013 as grants for on-the-ground projects. Speakers at the event will include Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Wrigley President Martin Radvan, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) President Kathleen Therese Meany, Joyce Foundation President Ellen Alberding, and MWRD Executive Director David St. Pierre.
