For immediate release The Methodist Church of Southern Africa watched with shock and horror as events unfolded at the Westgate Mall in Kenya. The senseless killing of unarmed civilians including women and children has left the church and the world at large in shock. We condemn this violent and wanton killing of innocent people. We mourn with the families that have lost loved ones and we are holding all the families affected by the attack on the Westgate Mall in prayer. Speaking from Johannesburg, the Presiding Bishop of the MCSA said: “We are deeply saddened at the tragic loss of life, the trauma inflicted on innocents and the very fact that there are people in this world who feel they have the right to take life with impunity.
