“For instance, when we pray that His name be hallowed (Matt 6:9; Luke 11:2)—that hallowing must, so to speak, be earnestly hungered and thirsted after.” The “hallowing” that now I do on Sunday, the day of rest because I give over to God my entire self, my tongue too is the recitation of prayers and like, I must keep through the rest of the week in my OWN prayers, using the prayers of Sunday as a pattern. I must hunger and thirst for God to react, to fulfill His Word through me, as I am going out and “doing battle” against His foes, whatever the foes are, be in my family, friends, or even the government. Excerpt From: John Calvin. “Calvin on Prayer.” iBooks.
