For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. - Romans 5:19 Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Do you remember where you were that Tuesday morning? Were you watching television? Were you on your way to work or school? For the thousands of lives lost to the tragedy of 9/11, most of them were just like you and me – normal, everyday people, going to work, making a living and taking care of their families. Many weren’t even born yet. Some children were still so young that they still ask, “What happened on September 11?” As painful as it may be to recount, do it anyway. Teach the children and generations to come that this is a country that was built on, “In God We Trust.” And not just as a saying, but a country that truly trusted a Sovereign God. The Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 13:6-8 that “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” Jesus Christ is that – He IS Love. This is what all the men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 taught us. We, as Americans, all became one that day, unified in the fact that Islamic extremists considered us all unworthy and wanted to destroy us. They still do. For the victims of 9/11, there was no distinction between race, creed, color or religion. It was out of LOVE for life, God, and fellow man that all the victims of 9/11 helped one another, even unto death. Thirteen years later, we know we will never, ever be the same, and that we must never, ever forget. Have a blessed day!
