For kids just starting to shoegaze (who want to get/equate getting - TopicsExpress

For kids just starting to shoegaze (who want to get/equate getting millions of pedals for a Kevin Shields sound, I sell pedals for a living and a lot of teen kids ignore my advice), this shows you why your amp can be more important than your pedals sometimes, unless you equate the coolness of being a shoegazer with the amount of pedals you have...this is for those who care more about achieving a strong Bloody Valentine-esque tone and sound. This whole video, only 2 pedals are on, and neither of them have dimed knobs, nor are they delay or reverb. (I do turn on a delay for a second just to mess around). One is vintage overdrive, the other is a distortion/fuzz twin pedal. The rest is coming from the broken-indicator-light 1967 Super Reverbs spring reverb, volume, and natural tube breakup (with the lovely sound of tube smashes here and there) and a Jaguar. Vintage amps arent cheap, but its far cheaper (and far more worth it) to get one than buying a bunch of pedals and Squier guitars and running them into modeling amps or reissues. Factor in that resale value as well. This is mainly because Ive been seeing more and more people posting here asking about amps, amp choices, and caring more about pedals than their guitar or amp choice. Save your pennies and go vintage, or at least go tubes..but this is just my opinion. Also ignore junk everywhere, Im in the middle of moving.
