For me, each day is Memorial Day. I remember my friends who died young and didnt get to marry, have kids and watch them grow or see their grandkids. I was lucky as are you if you are reading this. Here are my friends: 2lt Steve Broquist, USMC, killed in NVA ambush. Silver star posthumous 2lt Dave Skibbe, fell off medevac helo after leg wound 2lt Al Decrane, USMC, flew into mountain in Huey bringing plasma from ship to base one foggy night Greg Rice and Harry Eggar, ejected late from TA-4 on engine fail Pat Anderson, flew into water at Pacino Target Bob Farris, flew into water at night J.J. touchet, flew into water on low level Donny Sanders, late eject on engine fail Bill Becker, flew into water at night Mike Santille, lost at sea at night Dave Casher, flew into ground, cause unknown Bob Vessily, midair collision NAS Roosey Roads Bob Anderson, runway collision with S-3 Pete Leum, flew into ground Scott Speicher, shot down over Iraq John Boland, flew into ground Steve Kinkaid, drowned after eject from cold cat shot George Kowalski, fly into ground I will not forget them. Many more naval aviators paid the ultimate price for providing the nation with sea-based air power. In the jet age about 9000 died due to accidents. Many sailors died on the flight decks of our carriers. AD1 Wigglesworth got sucked down the intake of an A-7 on a high power turn. Others were maimed or killed by being run over by aircraft or blown over the side. I am a naval aviation survivor by the grace of God. I believe these men are cradled in His arms. We enjoy our life as Americans because of their commitment and that of hundreds of thousands of others, from Lexington to Afghanistan who gave all. Barney
