For me, politics is a game of chance. or perhaps a destiny. No - TopicsExpress

For me, politics is a game of chance. or perhaps a destiny. No matter how youve tried again and again, you cant have it if its not designed for you. For one, who would ever think that Pnoy would become our president, if not for her mothers death? When I opted to run in the 2010 elections, I was unsure of the outcome. There were three Nava candidates in the ballot, there were 14 councilors and had 2 vice mayoralty under the Trenas-Mabilog banner and I was particularly zeroed in by other political opponents. Still, I had passed the first test. In my re-election last May 2013, I was beset by a series of political and personal issues and non-stop accusations which mostly are products of fabricated lies. No one in my shoes could surely withstand such difficult adversity. But I survived. And a number of people (especially the bitters and the political traitors) keep on asking why. Why did I survive? Well, you ask God. You ask the people. Honestly, I survived mainly because Mayor Jed Patrick Jed Mabilog is there for me. He never abandoned me or had a thought of it. When I needed him the most. Undoubtedly, his political machinery and his grass-roots resources have catapulted me to my present position. Yes, its true. I owe my government power primarily to the people, the electorates who cast their votes. I cant discount however the fact that some if not majority of the people voted because I am identified with Mayor Jeds camp. He has carried me with his overwhelming popularity, performance rating and machinery. Why do I say this? Examine this. I have notarized 20 thousand legal documents for free to our indigents; I have authored the most number of Ordinances in the City Council (these ordinances are significant to the lives of our people and not just for cutie effect). I actively participate in the deliberate in our session and not sleeping on my chair and keeping my silence. I go to the streets under the heavy sun to perform additional duties. Now, after going through, will I expect to be number one or at least winning the elections with all of these accomplishments?? A lot of candidates who have flying colors, who have clean image, fell to the ground for lack of political machinery. At the end of the day, electorates will have a different view. This is the meat of the matter why I am making this post: I am facing another uneasy test of my life. The real property tax increase had given me sleepless nights and serious anxiety. Like Mayor Jed, political career is not a consideration of whatever decision I make. I have proven that. Everyday I find enemies in the street in the implementation of our traffic laws. So whats new for me? Though this time, its a different ball game. Mayor Jed, the man I owe my political career, is determined to tax for a good and justifiable reason. Taxation on the other hand draws unpopularity and opposition from all walks of life for a sound reason. This time, I say to myself silently: Lead me Lord, wont you leave me!
