For me, the best and most favorite part about writing music is the chance to be 100% vulnerable and true. Then one day, when you get the courage to share it with the world, somebody, somewhere, connects with it. Therefore, connects on some level to you, too. Ive never been somebody to hide who I am. Although I dont like crowds, and might not talk to much to people who are outside my comfort zone in Berrien Springs/Southwest MI, if you want to really know me I am completely all of my lyrics. I share my song lyrics in my notes, on facebook, because its finished work that Im proud of and am happy to share. However, my best work is yet to be done, just like my life. Somedays when Im feeling bummed that I never finished my degree in school, or moved to peruse a career in music, I remind myself just how far I have come. I have a job that I love waking up for every morning, and a family and support system who are always behind me. I might not have exactly what I thought Id have five years after high school, or be where I thought I might, but I have more than a lot of people do. Im so very lucky and blessed, to say the least. There is so much more in store for me. Rome wasnt built in a day they say. You may be wondering what this post is about, but tonight I was reading through lyrics Ive written and not shared because theyre still an unfinished song. So, even though Im not where I want to be yet, just like those songs, I know well get there.
