For my 100th Piano Piece, it must be a very special song that means so much not only to me but also to many of my loved ones. When my kids were still babies, I did not sing to them the usual lullaby songs. Or while others resort to make-up lyrics, I sang this very song instead to send my little ones to sleep. Even now whenever I feel like humming a song and playing the piano to ease an aching and distressing moment, I draw on this song and it really has a lasting soothing effect on me. It is my all-time favourite tagalog love song. If you ask me, I would say that this is the best tagalog love song ever written and recorded. I love the dynamics of the song, the way this song speaks poetry over the music, and the way I get lost in it for the duration. This also speaks so much about my love and devotion to my husband. What better soundtrack for the movie of our love story and all the feelings I have for him than “Sana’y Wala Ng Wakas”, knowing and trusting that with him it is really eternal love? This song will always have a special place in my heart for this reason. All my musical savours began with this song. Thank You, dear God, for wonderful songs of love. I know my pieces are really so amateur but rest assured that when I assemble, finish and play a piece, I really do so from the heart. So whenever a song request pops up, I get so overjoyed because it is another chance for me to share love and music from my side, and to give joy to that person for whatever such song means to him/her. Like many of my piano pieces, this one has many slips and mishaps, the ones I could not prevent in every piece that I create. But as soon as I review what I’ve finished, I do not condemn myself nor think anybody would for my imperfection. I take these lessons to heart and try to get better in my next piece. I would rather feel the positive changes I have experienced along the way, and the happiness I have found in every song, and the goals I need to set that are realistic and based on my capabilities, not on what I can not be and can not do. This is where I belong. Here, nobody will tell me to give my best within a time frame. Here, I can have all the time in the world and be “me”. There is no shame in starting amateur and even if it stays that way. Here, I do not need to beat myself up if it is taking a long time to muster something. And in this piece where I can not present it to you in perfection, where I made many slips, I told myself that it is isn’t that I bounce right back but my goal to get back up and continue and finish a piece. The same speaks so much about (my) life also. Life will always have to move on in spite of the many mistakes you make, no matter how many times you fail. I have reached my 100th piece and today is really a time to rejoice!
