For my beloved Kate. Today in 1941 Joan Chandos Báez was born. A folk singer, songwriter, musician, and activist whose music often includes songs of protest or social justice. She has displayed a lifelong commitment to political and social activism in the fields of nonviolence, civil rights, human rights and the environment. Her kind of social commentary is in danger today from activists and terrorists whom dissuade counter opinions with dire violence as witnessed in recent history.
