For my birthday, my grandmother gave this pin to me. Her and her mother went to Disneyland in October of 1957 (Disneyland was just 2 years old) and there were already Christmas decorations out. My great-grandmother picked it out and told my grandma, who was only 13, This is so you, and handed it to her. She gave this to me so that I could remember that she knew how to talk like Donald Duck. Unfortunately, she cant do it anymore, but I still have my memories and her stories. Her senior class in 1962 had a ditch day at Disneyland, 8 or 9 boys wanted to take over the park, knocked over Main Street trash cans, did something in Tomorrowland, just terrible. They went to the canoes, got the guide in a headlock, sat on him, then threw him in the water, took the oars, held the canoes over their heads, went around Tom Sawyers Island, then near the back, by the burning cabin, went on the island and went into Fort Wilderness. Security surrounded them, the boys threw the oars at them, they said their names were Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, etc. The assistant principal told the Anaheim police their real names and they were taken to City Hall, then to the Anaheim Police station. Morningside High School was never welcomed back to Disneyland ever again. The story may not be related to the pin, but the pin belonged to someone who witnessed it. Im so glad to have a part of vintage Disneyland!
