For my first Facebook post of 2015, I would like to tell you about my first meal of 2015... Donna and I had the honor of having our first meal, of the New Year, with Byron Fenoglio...Hes the guy who owns the RandomActOfKindness-Louisville Page, and is also the guy who you might have seen on WHAS-11 for randomly handing out 2 Dollar Bills to folks he encounters throughout the day...Each 2 Dollar Bill has a note that says to use it if you need it, or pay it forward...Hes also a guy who could literally die, at any time... Byron lives with an issue, that could change, instantly, and has been brought to the brink of eternity, before...He is forced to face his own mortality, frequently...His outlook is amazing, though...He strives to live for a purpose...One of the most up-beat and optimistic people Ive met...He gets it...He knows...He refuses to be done, give up, lay down, or stop... Byron regularly attends and holds Funeral Services for homeless and indigent people, who are buried at the cemetery that is dedicated to that purpose...Its way back by the river...He makes sure that the forgotten dont go out alone...He gives them some dignity...He is often the only person who would have been there except for those who are required to do the work...Hes been to that brink, too... BUT, my favorite Byron Fenoglio Story is when he came across a guy who was sitting at his rock-bottom...He was from California and had been here in Louisville for many years...He was homeless, destitute, and forgotten...He looked like someone you would run away from, in Downtown Louisville...Byron saw past the shell, and saw a guy that might need a specific kind of help...Even though the guy wasnt begging, Byron engaged him in a conversation that led to discovering that the guys Mom was still alive and back in California...Byron pulled out his phone, called the Mom, handed the guy the phone, and then proceeded to put the guy on a bus, home to re-unite with his Mom...A mom who was waiting with arms wide open for her lost Son...Byron did that...It was also on the news... THAT is who Donna and I got to eat our first meal off 2015 with...At Cracker Barrel...He had the Country Fried Steak and Gravy, and he enjoys life...I had the Sampler...I, too, enjoy life... People like Byron are my idols...They know that there is more to life than self...They see the positive side of life, and even when they are inundated with negatives in their own...They always win in the end...They go to Heaven...Some say they are already there... I came away from that meal with an even greater desire to be a better man...In every way...I still get a chance to...HAPPY 2015, EVERYONE!!! https://youtube/watch?v=_9TShlMkQnc
