For new followers here is our stance on dots and other issues. ~ Matt There are a number of issues that we would like to address to our followers. We are going to do this without trying to sound stuck up and hope no one takes offence. There are three main issues at the moment that we would like to address: 1. The use of DOTS on Facebook - We are aware the some pages are DOT friendly pages and encourage their likers to DOT so their reach is greater. DOTS on Facebook do not actually do anything. It is the comment itself that makes you see our posts in your feed. Liking status’ and sharing also keeps our posts in your feed. So instead of dotting, use your imagination, construct a sentence, voice your opinion, post a photo. After spending a couple of hours collecting information for a storm forecast, getting a DOT in the comments in the comments can be quite frustrating and simply quite rude. Please, please, please we don’t care what you post, as long as it isn’t a dot haha. 2. People bad mouthing/bagging out the BOM - What many people realise is that when it comes to issuing a severe thunderstorm warning a thunderstorm has to meet certain criteria. Most of the time they rely on people to call in observations (For example: Large hail greater than 2cm). Other times they use radar imagery to identify the storms severity. Sometimes they get it wrong, most of the time they get it spot on. It is not fair to bag them out because they do a fantastic job and provide many services (For example: Radar, Severe weather warnings, MetEye) for free. 3. Responding to every single request - We cannot possibly answer every question as to weather every suburb is going to be effected by a weather event. We try to generalise most of the time and give a general area (For example: North of Brisbane to Sunshine Coast). We will still try and answer most of your questions, if we can not answer, please do not get upset or offended. If anyone has any issues please send us a PM and we can discuss.
