For next year, I have four main focuses that I would work on. Hope is known for its phenomenal community. Between the campus leaders and the student body, our small size gives us a major advantage. How can we improve this fellowship? I have a goal: Let’s create community through spiritual intimacy. - How can we achieve this spiritual intimacy? First of all, Spiritual intimacy strives both on campus and off campus. It is because of this that I have assembled two different ways in helping students achieve this spiritual intimacy. - I have a vision that will allow students to connect with local churches free of charge, every Sunday morning, using the campus vans. On Sunday mornings, each campus van will be assigned to a specific church. That van will go to that church every Sunday allowing students to pursue that church on a weekly basis or until they find a church that they feel comfortable with. This will assist students to obtain off campus spiritual intimacy. - - 3 school years ago, HIU held a spiritual needs retreat. This was a time for students to get off campus and establish community with other students in a time of worship in song, praise, and prayer. This event will take place on an off campus location and last anywhere between 2-3 days. Also, who can forget the fun that comes with it? Fee for the trip will be minimal, and more details will be announced as the ASB team does more planning. Spiritual intimacy on-campus - The community at Hope has the ability to form this campus into a place of effective teamwork, more so than it already is. Most students on campus would say that the community is one of the best aspects of Hope. The athletes do a great job establishing community while the musicians do as well. This is true for all different types of personalities and characteristics we have here on campus. But what if the whole community came together as a team? By working close with the Student activities team and the RA team, we can establish this idea of spiritual intimacy through events and on campus activities. - The reconstruction of Barnabas and Formation groups is something that is widely accepted as a need here on campus. Groups are a great potential here on campus. If executed properly, they can become a highlight of fellowship. However, we lack the proper training for our leaders to equip them to handle their groups in a way that produces successful community. I have established some improvements for groups: o Reconstruction of barnabas/formation training In the beginning of the year, Barnabas and formation leaders had training that was intended to prepare us for leading our group for the fall and spring semester. However, this training did not prepare us to deal with students in our group. Establishing a training program that will assist leaders in dealing with the many difficulties that can occur in a group will help them be more effective when dealing with their group members. o Regular leader meetings Group leaders need to meet on a 1-2 week basis. This way we can discuss as a team and add more structure to the groups as a whole. This will also assist in establishing synergy amongst the group and establishing a sense of professionalism just as the other leadership groups on campus do. o Established Barnabas schedule this ensures that the leaders aren’t left alone to think of ideas for their group and less groups to be canceled. o Revamping servant of leaders Encouraging the leaders will help them see their value and ultimately make them more motivated to lead. Servant of leaders, if used properly, can pour into the leaders causing a chain reaction of motivation. Leaders need resources too. I feel confident in my abilities to work as a team. I strongly encourage any person to approach me if I can be any sort of resource to anyone. I hope that this upcoming year, the ASB team will build from each other so that together we can help this campus become more pleasurable and suitable for the student body. Thank you all for your time and energy. May God bless you.
