For our wonderful students, I hope you read all of this as its all about you. Folks call about my yoga classes and I tell them its no place special. No wood floors or fountains or juice bars. We are at a rec center so I can keep classes cheap. I want yoga available to everybody. We have kids chattering in the hallways and occasionally glitter on our feet from a craft class before ours. Sometimes it gets noisy when the seniors have a music night and folks are singing down the hall. Theyre happy. Thats good. But the rec center folks are top notch. They do a great job and take good care of us. And we love them. Where I get goose bumps most and tell potential students they will find the most joy is in the communion with their fellow students. That is our secret sauce right there. Its you. How many yoga classes do you attend where one brings homemade cupcakes, another brownies, where one brings an essential oil to share and another brings sweet potatoes from her neighbors garden? Where we send love to those who are ill and cheer those who got a huge amazing signed poster from her middle school students? Where love and friendship are our shared mantra and our yoga practice is a time to bond and be together and learn and laugh? So yeah, to an outsider we are a bunch of folks practicing yoga in a rec center with sometimes outside distractions. Its not for everybody. But when you look more closely, I see the most wonderful people on the planet seeking to make their world, and that of their neighbor, a place of love. I thank you students/friends from the bottom of my heart for making Escapes Yoga a sanctuary of peace and light and love. Youre the best.
