For percentile calculation it is better to be a state board student: Maharashtra state board joined JEE Main examination from this year, but they are not accepting jee main rank list prepared by cbse. They have created their own merit list that gives 50% weightage to XII board marks and 50% weightage to jee main marks. This merit list was announced yesterday by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). After declaration of merit list all CBSE/ISC board students were in shock as they were having lower percentile as compared to state board students. An ISC student said: “I scored 270/300 in class 12 (PCM) which corresponds to a percentile of 87.34, while an HSC candidate scoring 270 marks got a percentile of 99.37 and a CBSE candidate got 91.14. This brought down my final score and ranking by 2,000 points.” Although when asked same question to DTE, they denied it. They said they have used same normalization formula that is being used by CBSE and Gujarat board.
