For reasons that are, as they should be, beyond me, there has been an on-going discussion in NYCs psychoanalytic community about what it means to have your donuts and eat them too. I think Jamieson Webster and Friedrich Nietzsche (Frederick Nietchze) (as explained on the level of the donut) together map this philosophy of sweet desire. The idea is that love is giving the donuts you do not have to someone who does not want donuts, and that we will stop at absolutely nothing to fail at making this impossible exchange. Importantly, this is a theory about donuts, it is not a theory about cakes: a donut is a cake with a hole in the center; it is the part of the cake thats missing. | #philosophy #psychoanalysis
