For sake of argument… lets assume we all agree that people should be allowed to come together in whatever voluntary communities they want. Lets assume that our resident an-coms and a few hundred (or thousand) of their friends and fellow-travellers have come together voluntarily in a small town by the beach, with palm trees and and a pleasant breeze. They have all come together on the understanding that they will not have capitalism in their community. I should be clear in saying that real anarchists will totally defend their right to do this. To each their own. My question is what *exactly* are their rules going to be that prevent capitalism? Shayne thinks one rule should be that no person is allowed to own 100 houses. Fair enough. Elsewhere I have heard that people will not be allowed to enter into contracts that exchange labour for money. OK. Apparently some trade will be allowed, but will there be any restrictions on the profit that can be made? Will people in the community be allowed to trade with people from outside the community? I know you wont necessarily get exactly the community you want. And I know you wont know every nuance of every rule. But imagine there was a new person who showed up and wanted to live in your community, and they asked what are the rules they have to follow… what would you tell them?
