For seven years, Maryland has been on the front lines of the fight against contraband cell phones in our correctional facilities. Along the way, technological advancements have allowed us to take important steps forward to keep our facilities safer for staff and detainees. Today we announced the latest technology to keep our correctional facilities more secure. Managed access technology, created by a Maryland based company — differentiates between authorized and unauthorized cellular devices within facilities. The technology is currently deployed at the Metropolitan Transition Center and the Baltimore City Detention Center.
