For several days prior to All Saints Day (Undas) and even until now, some of our staff are bewildered to smell a stinging musky fragrance blanketing almost the whole hospital, especially in the late evening and early morning. My curiosity lead me to realize that it all emanated from the full bloomed flowers of Bita (Visayan), or Dita (Tagalog), or White Cheesewood (English) tree (Sci. Name: Alstonia scholaris). As I wandered around UP Manilas main campus, I spotted around 15 full grown, flowering trees, located at the Northeast and Southwest sides of PGH. Here are some pictures that I took before going on a vacation:
