For sharing and redistribution Ive been almost a month in Gaza, - TopicsExpress

For sharing and redistribution Ive been almost a month in Gaza, since July 22. Last night I could not sleep, so loud were the explosions of the bombs the fighter jets dropped on Gaza City and other places of the Gaza Strip. All the way to Hebron, friends of mine have even felt the earth shaking, a city that is nearly 50 kilometers away. This night they didn’t drop 250-kilogram bombs. Experts, I have asked today, said that they must have pounded the Gaza Strip with 1000 and even 2000 kg bombs. A seven-month old baby and his mother were killed. They are the son and wife of one of the leading political figures in Palestine. His name is Mohammed Deif. You all know his name. He is a great leader of the Palestinians. A popular man, worshiped by pretty much everyone in Gaza, with whom I have spoken. I ask you, is it permissible to exterminate the family of a political leader just because you disagree with him or her? Why doesn’t Israel attack these leader directly? Why do they have to pass the pain to their families? I ask you, why are seven-month old babies murdered in their cribs, only because the father of this baby is a popular politician? I did not hear a single word of condemnation from the German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel of the attacks tonight. It is just one of many against civilians. Just think of the year 2002, when 15 people were killed by a heavy bomb, only to eliminate one leader: Sheikh Salah Mustafa Muhammad Shehade. Locally he was considered as having a respectable personality, socially committed to his people and a courageous leader. In this night, when the family of Mohammed Deif was wiped out, we are being reminded of the 15 victims that happened to be around Sheikh Salah when he was sent to heaven, and caught by memories of the 2000 deaths during the last few weeks. I receive a letter from German experts on the Middle East. In this letter to the German Chancellor, these experts denounce the Palestinians right to resistance. They claim to speak for a population that has been suppressed for decades and is fighting for freedom. The Palestinians can speak for themselves. Dear experts of the Middle East, you can write as many letters to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel as you want. However, you will not prevent the will to resist against oppression. Where there is oppression, destruction and expulsion, people will exert their will against those limiting their freedoms. Gaza City, on Wednesday, 20th of August 2014
