For six years you shall sow your field, and for six years you - TopicsExpress

For six years you shall sow your field, and for six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its fruits, but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the Lord. You shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard. (Leviticus 25:3-4 ESV) Rest. What a wonderful thing The Lord made for His people. This is a portion of the scripture passage from yesterdays Sunday school lesson at FBC Pontotoc. Most classes use this material and I am blessed to have 9th and 10th grade girls in my class. Each Sunday I am amazed by their faith and trust in our Savior. To honest with you the lesson this week did not excite me until Gods provision for His own was unfolded before my eyes! Think about the reality of what God ordained with the Sabbath year. It was to be a year of solemn rest to The Lord so He could show His mighty power to them. They were not to sow their fields, prune the vineyards, or gather produce in order to make a profit from it. The only thing they could do was eat from what The Lord provided in the fields. My first question to the young women in my class was if they enjoyed rest. They all agreed that its a wonderful thing none of us get enough of! I next very slowly with emphasis on each word described the command God had given His people regarding the land He was about to give them. I asked them if they could trust God to supply their every need for an entire year and just what that would take on their part to say yes to that question. The first reply was patience, something I had not considered but truth is so evident in that reply! Second and third, and I couldnt tell which came first, was faith and trust! Im telling you, these girls are awesome! Parents you have done an amazing job growing your kids in the nurture and admonition of The Lord. I walked out of that class so excited about teaching! What an honor and blessing to see their excitement each week. I hope you all are as blessed in your service to our Redeemer! Our Creator God provides for us today. The children of Israel did not trust in His provision and were disobedient during the Sabbath years. Will we rest in the blessed assurance of His provision for us today? Dear Lord, I love You so much! Thank You for the opportunity to teach Your Word each week. May I always speak Your Word and never my own! Thank You for letting us know its ok to rest! Reveal to us Your provision and help have faith to rest in that alone. Bless Tyler and Kim and the Honduras mission team this week. Reveal wondrous things to them. Keep them safe and well. We trust You to provide their every need before it is even known. We give You all honor and all glory and all praise. You are so very worthy!!!!
