For some historical perspective on how the public addresses at Xenia School Board meetings have gone in the past, I would recommend reading Xenia School Board Member Dr. Dillaplains remarks on what happened at the board meeting Monday night and how it differed from board meetings of the not-too-distant past. I would also recommend signing the petition (below) that Xenia City Council Member Joshua Long created, which is asking the board to move public addresses back to the beginning of Xenia School Board meetings in order to encourage citizen participation. On Monday night Dr. Robert P Dillaplain made a motion to do just that, but it died for lack of a second and a vote was never taken. If elected this November I promise to second and vote for Dr. Dillaplains motion should he make it again during Januarys organizational meeting next year. If he doesnt make the motion, I will. I hope youll sign the petition below, and please remember that you can vote now by going to the Greene County Board of Elections office, located at 551 Ledbetter Road. Dont wait for the long lines on November 5th. change.org/petitions/xenia-community-school-s-board-of-education-change-public-audience-participation-processes-at-boe-meetings?share_id=HVKVRjQbZS&utm_campaign=share_button_action_box&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition
