For some reason, I found myself awake at about 2 or 3 am, watching JEM, who is NOT, I hate to say, truly outrageous. Jem is the type of show that becomes popular when you only have 1 channel that airs cartoons for 90 minutes a day. I literally stared in an insomniac stupor, waiting for the show to make sense or for the animation to become better. Sadly, the truth is simply that we children of the 80s and 90s had no other option but to watch sub-par storylines and cartooning. I like to think that it was because of these difficulties that we are an awesome bunch of 30-40 somethings who are the current creators of brilliance like Pixar. At least, thats what Im telling myself as I try to pry that song from my internal loop.
