For some reason, the liberal party keeps sending me their latest updates and recruitment drives. I havent ever registered interest in being in any political party, and when I replied to one of their emails saying that I dont support detention of children and separating mothers from their babies, do like the great barrier reef just as it is, as with forests kept on the world heritage listing. That I dont think we have the right to be bigots just so Andrew Bolt -who migrated here as a child and was charged with breaching 18 c of the anti racial discrimination act - can feel happy again through the attempts to repeal the act. I also went into a detailed description of the word liberal, how their party doesnt meet that meaning in practice of its every day dealings, the word demagogue the word idealogue and the word fascism. Then I cited examples as relevant as to how the liberal party no longer resembled anything like the first word, but had plenty of examples of the three words that followed, and why that was undesirable in a democracy. I also mentioned that the partys federal cabinet has less females in it than Afghanistan, and that until things changes dramatically to address the many issues raised, I wasnt going to be interested in hearing from them. Ok, so 18 c has been taken off the table, but not a lot else has become liberal about them, and they are still sending me letters. I am thinking, as I was when I typed out my response, that they neither read the responses they get nor listen to the feeling of their rank and file membership, nor the population.....but thats politics in this country for you.
