For something like ten years now, Ive been a fan of Evanescence. A few times Ive listened to one or another of their songs and said, I can relate to EVERY WORD of that song. In the case of this song, in this moment.. is it my song? the song of those I love? just the song of sadness I hear from time to time? A little of all that I guess -- not to say that my heart is broken right now, just that it breaks for other people, breaks for the messes, and it all makes me feel worn (to quote a word from another song).
