For the Lord does not see as man sees;for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:7 Ive been learning more and more that our appearances arent half as important as we usually make them out to be. Your body is a vessel, not the actual being. You, are your soul, your spirit, whatever you want to call it! You are the being within you, not the container. It would be stupid of me to call a jar of peanut butter, a jar. Why? Because that jar is defined by what is inside of it. If Im looking for some GREAT peanut butter, I could care less what jar it comes in! God thinks this about us. Jesus himself criticized the pharisees for the way they adorn their bodies, while inside they were full of greed and other evil ways. He said when you clean a cup, FIRST clean the inside, because thats the important part, THEN clean the outside. Your actions. The way you react to a person in need of help. How you speak to your enemies. The steps of faith you make on a day to day basis. Those choices made between a comfortable lie and a pure truth. Your deepest prayers whispered at night. These are the things God looks at. These are what He wants your efforts to be put at, not your self image. I have met some absolutely beautiful people, and I dont mean they were necessarily drop dead gorgeous. I mean speaking with them, hearing about their concerns, their passions, and dreams. Its the way that people ARE and how they function that I find beautiful. God is much more concerned about your soul than your body. So please remember that love/kindness triumphs over designer clothing or the latest Nike shoes any day. P.S (Feel free to post links, original posts, or questions on various topics issues!
