For the first time in a long time education is a top priority among Hoosiers voters! Checkout who is giving the buku buck$$! The counterfeit hedge fund reform group who call themselves Hoosiers for Quality Education. Shared from Northeast Indiana Friends of Public Education: If it seems like a quiet election season, youre just not listening closely enough. Ed Feigenbaum, who edits the well-respected Indiana Legislative Insight political newsletter, reports that polling data is spelling bad news for the party in power in Indianapolis. “The key takeaway: education is the very, very top issue among Hoosiers for the first time in a long time, and the specific education issue folks are most concerned about is funding,” Feigenbaum writes, “hence the House GOP determination to address school funding formula matters, particularly given that this issue, of course, is not good for Republicans, nor for incumbents more generally.” One clue that the GOP is getting worried is that the states top school voucher group, Hoosiers for Quality Education, has dumped $127,500 into Republican campaign coffers since Oct. 14, including a $5,000 contribution to school choice supporter Liz Brown, the GOP nominee for Senate District 15. The GOPs own committees are contributing generously, as well. Brown has picked up another $60,700 from party sources, while Rep. Martin Carbaughs House District 81 campaign collected $69,000 in large contributions in the last two weeks, including a $51,000 gift from the House Republican Campaign Committee. On the Democratic side, the teachers union political action committee has given $5,000 to Browns opponent, Jack Morris, and $2,500 to Carbaughs challenger, Thad Gerardot.
